Training, Video and New Weight Room Art

Pegg came over today and helped usher in the new weight room art – the NOV banner arrived whilst I was playing air guitar in Maryland.  I think this gave me the extra edge today.  Here is the workout:

Bench Press - normal 5/3/1 sets, and finished with 215 for 10 reps, 255 for 1 rep and 300 for 1 rep (see video).  This is a big step in the correct direction.

Chins - various grips, slow sets of 5 reps.  Did 1o total sets. (these were supersetted with the bench press)

Press - 5 sets of 10 reps

Rows – 5 sets of 10 reps (supersetted with the Press)

    Hey Jim-
What surgery did you have on your shoulder? In 05 I was in a motocross crash and my entire rotator cuff was ripped off of my humerus and I sustained a 80% severed axillary nerve so my right delt will no longer fire. However with great patients over the years and with the help of 5/3/1 I hit 345 on the bench last month *have to use extremely narrow grip to protect my shoulder. I know this is nothing compared to the shit you throw up but just take your time and youll be back to normal in no time. The doctors told me Id never bench again or be able to throw a football or baseball again so dont listen to those fuckers either and do your thing. Good luck with the recovery!

Thanks Bryan. And you have an incredible story – nothing better than achieving when others’ put limitations on you.
