Youth - Never Surrender

Not all hope is lost.

The other day I went over to the high school stadium to do my usual stair sprints/weight vest walk.  It was during the school day and while there, the elementary school was having P.E. class on the track.  The teacher had them do a variety of calisthenics, skips, jumps/hops and finish with an 800m run.

When I got there, some of the kids recognized me as a football coach and couldn't wait to show off. They flagged me down and wanted me to watch them do their various drills; letting me know that they do this kind of stuff all the time and making sure to tell me what position they play.  Not only did they give great effort; they also were super proud of their effort.

Give kids a chance to be awesome. Stop treating them like soft, weak idiots. You can't Nerf the world.
